Britain's Energy Coast Business Cluster (BECBC)
About the company
Britain's Energy Coast Business Cluster (BECBC) is the private sector-led membership organisation for the clean energy and nuclear supply chain in Cumbria, with over 300 member companies ranging from SMEs to global organisations. BECBC takes its name from Cumbria's coastline, widely recognised as Britain's Energy Coast, which is home to Sellafield, one of the world's largest and most complex nuclear sites, the Walney and West of Duddon Sands offshore wind farms, and the emerging Pioneer Park clean energy development at Moorside.
BECBC's purpose is to connect businesses across the full energy and nuclear lifecycle — from new build and generation through to decommissioning and waste management — providing networking, business development, supply chain intelligence and skills support to help Cumbrian businesses participate in and benefit from the region's major energy programmes. In January 2026, BECBC published a landmark white paper setting out how Cumbria's SME supply chain can deliver four nationally significant missions simultaneously: nuclear decommissioning at Sellafield, the Geological Disposal Facility programme, submarine production at BAE Systems in Barrow, and the Pioneer Park clean energy development.
As a member of Net Zero North West, BECBC ensures that Cumbria's clean energy assets and supply chain are fully integrated into the broader regional decarbonisation strategy.
