About the company
Cubico Sustainable Investments is a privately owned global renewable energy developer and operator, with a significant and growing North West England presence. Backed by two Canadian pension funds - Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan and Public Sector Pension Investment Board - Cubico currently operates over 250 MW of wind and solar projects in the UK, including the Frodsham Wind Farm in Cheshire.
Its flagship North West project is Scout Moor II, a proposed 100 MW onshore wind farm on the moorland between Rossendale and Rochdale in the South Pennines, which if approved will be England's largest onshore wind farm and the first major onshore wind development in England in over a decade. Scout Moor II has the potential to generate enough clean electricity to power around 100,000 homes annually and meet approximately 10% of Greater Manchester's domestic energy needs. The project brings an estimated £200 million of investment, hundreds of green jobs, and includes a multi-million pound Community Wealth Fund and moorland restoration programme to benefit local communities and the environment.
Cubico joined Net Zero North West as part of its broader commitment to the UK clean energy transition, with plans to invest approximately £300 million across renewable energy technologies in coming years.
