NWBLT

The North West Business Leadership Team (NWBLT) is an independent, not-for-profit body bringing together senior business leaders and University Vice-Chancellors from across the region, with a mission to harness collective expertise and influence to shape the North West's economic future.

The NWBLT has been a founding partner and driving force behind Net Zero North West, leading efforts to develop the region's industrial decarbonisation roadmap. It spearheaded the North West Energy and Hydrogen Cluster initiative, which identified the potential to deliver 33,000 jobs, over £4 billion of investment and savings of 10 million tonnes of CO₂ per year through coordinated clean growth action. The NWBLT secured UKRI funding to develop the cluster plan and has convened industry, academia and local and national government to translate the North West's net zero ambitions into actionable investment pipelines. It also co-created the region's Net Zero Skills Charter, bringing together businesses and universities to plan the 660,000 green jobs needed to deliver a net zero economy in the North West by 2040.

The NWBLT provides the critical private-sector voice and leadership needed to align the region behind a common decarbonisation mission.
