Peel NRE
About the company
The Peel Group is one of the UK's largest property and infrastructure groups, with an extensive portfolio of land, waterfront developments, ports and energy assets across the North West. Through its renewable energy and natural resources division, Peel NRE, the group is a major enabler of the region's transition to a low carbon economy. At the heart of its North West energy strategy is Protos, a 54-hectare energy, innovation and industry hub near Ellesmere Port, Cheshire, which sits at the centre of the Net Zero North West industrial cluster.
Protos hosts a range of low carbon energy generation projects including waste-to-energy facilities, hydrogen production and circular economy initiatives, and provides low carbon power and heat directly to industrial users in the region. The Peel Group has also developed renewable energy assets including the Frodsham Wind Farm and other North West wind and solar projects through its Peel Cubico partnership, with an ambition to develop over 500MW of renewable capacity. Across its commercial property portfolio, Peel L&P became the first UK developer to achieve net zero carbon status on its major office buildings, including assets at MediaCityUK in Salford and Liverpool Waters.
As both a landowner and energy developer, The Peel Group plays a unique role in creating the physical infrastructure needed to deliver industrial decarbonisation at scale in the North West.
