Net Zero North West featured in Energy Voice following major Foresight 2026 discussions

Net Zero North West CEO Jane Gaston has been featured in Energy Voice following discussions at The Foresight Event 2026 in Liverpool, where leaders from across the sector came together to explore the future of the UK’s energy transition.

The editorial, published by Energy Voice, focused on the growing need to move from ambition to delivery across the UK’s net zero transition, highlighting the importance of infrastructure, investment certainty and industrial competitiveness.

In the article, Jane Gaston highlighted the importance of translating strong policy ambition into deliverable projects that can move at pace.

She said: “The UK is not short of ambition when it comes to the energy transition. What it needs now is delivery.”

The editorial also explored the critical role industrial regions such as the North West will play in supporting the UK’s long-term economic growth, energy security and industrial competitiveness.

Jane highlighted the importance of grid reform in unlocking investment and accelerating low carbon infrastructure projects across the region.

She said: “For regional industrial clusters like those in the North West, grid capacity is not a future issue. It is a current constraint on growth and decarbonisation.”

The piece also reinforced the need for industrial decarbonisation to be viewed as an economic and competitiveness priority, rather than solely an environmental objective, while calling for greater coordination between industry, investors and policymakers.

Jane added: “The UK has the technology, the expertise and the capital. What is required now is coordination that bridges ambition with delivery.”

The coverage forms part of Net Zero North West’s ongoing work to ensure the North West continues to play a leading role in national discussions around clean growth, industrial strategy and the energy transition.
