Morecambe Net Zero (MNZ) Peak Cluster

Morecambe Net Zero (MNZ) | Peak Cluster is a joint venture between Spirit Energy and the Peak Cluster partners, forming the world's largest cement decarbonisation project. The project uses an innovative blend of proven technologies including carbon capture units, CO2 transportation via pipeline and geological carbon sequestation to provide a permanent decarbonisation solution for 40% of the UK's cement and lime industry.
Cement and lime production remains one of the highest emitting industries in the UK. Once operational, MNZ | Peak Cluster will support growth in the UK cement and lime industry, providing a decarbonisation solution for up to 1 gigatonne of CO2. In the process, MNZ | Peak Cluster will safeguard and create around 13,000 jobs in Staffordshire, Derbyshire, and Cheshire, while generating up to £1.8bn equivalent of GVA to the UK economy.
In July 2025, Peak Cluster recieved a £28.6 million equity investment from National Wealth Fund to support the development of the project.
