Hynet North West

HyNet North West is one of two government backed low carbon cluster projects in the UK. Based in the North West of England and North Wales, is it a low risk route to decarbonise the North West industrial cluster and other sectors of the regional economy, enabling over 40 organisations a route to decarbonisation. The project consists of two major elements, hydrogen production and carbon capture and storage (CCS).
HyNet North West will deliver over 1 million tonnes of low-carbon hydrogen per year, produced by EET Hydrogen at HPP1. In partnership with Cadent, the HyNet H₂ Pipeline will deliver low-carbon hydrogen to several industrial users in the region including Encirc and Tata Chemicals.
Providing a permanent decarbonisation solution for many hard-to-abate industries in the North West Industrial Cluster, the HyNet CCS infrastructure will safely capture, transport and store CO₂ deep underground in depleted gas fields under Liverpool Bay. Once operational, HyNet North West will enable up to 10 million tCO₂ per annum to be abated.
