Scout Moor II

Scout Moor II is a 100 MW capacity onshore wind farm proposed for development on the moorland between Rossendale and Rochdale in the upper south Pennines boardering Lancashire and Greater Manchester. If granted permission for construction, it would be England's first major new on-shore wind farm in over a decade.
The project is being developed by Cubico Sustainable Investments and sits adjacent to the existing Scout Moor Wind Farm that has operated since 2008. Once operational, Scout Moor II will consist of 17 turbines, each up to 180m tall and will generate enough energy to power ~100,000 homes.
As well as the energy infratructure, the project developers have committed to restoring and improving the environment surrounding the wind farm. For every 1 hectare disturbed by construction footprint, Scout Moor II will restore 10 hectares of peatland, protecting local species through habitat creation and improving water quality for the region. Healthy peatlands are one of the UK's largest natural carbon stores, holding up to 10 tCO₂ per annum per hectare.
